New Delhi: The Centre for European and Latin American Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize two short seminars courses on Latin America by Dr. George Wink, Freie University Berlin in the coming week. COURSE-I will be on: “The Discursive Construction and Representation of the Favela (Portuguese for shanty town in Brazil) in Cinema and Literature” Monday 6 Aug, 10am-1pm: Discursive Construction of the Brazilian Favela I Tuesday 7 Aug, 10am-1pm: Discursive Construction of the Brazilian Favela II Wednesday 8 Aug, 3-5pm: Contemporary Brazilian Cinema COURSE-II will be on: “Orientalism in the works of the Twentieth Century Cuban Poet, Critic and Novelist Severo Sarduy” Thursday 9 Aug, 10am-12pm: Orientalism in Latin American Literature Monday 13 Aug, 10am-1pm: Orientalism in Severo Sarduy I Tuesday 14 Aug, 10am-1pm: Orientalism in Severo Sarduy II The venue of the programmes is the Audiovisual Room, Centre for European and Latin American Studies, Nelson Mandela House, Mujeeb Bagh, Jamia Millia Islamia.
