New Delhi: An extra vigilant Jamia Millia Islamia administration nabbed an impersonator on campus today. The university had started the drive to catch cases of impersonation in the entrance tests for admission to various courses on offer at the university last year itself and it seems to have borne fruit. It had adopted a number of mechanisms to ensure that: one of which was to photograph the students appearing in the entrance test.
Today, the Jamia administration led by Professor Khalid Moin, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, caught Krishna Baloni, a first year B. Tech. (Computer Engineering) student enrolled at Jamia Millia Islamia who was caught by a vigilant team when they discovered a mis-match in the student who was appearing for the end semester examinations as Krishna Baloni with the one who had secured admission by appearing in the entrance test last year.
This fact of impersonation was further corroborated by checking the fingerprints taken at the time of the entrance test and it was found that it did not match Krishna Baloni's finger prints at all.
On interrogation by Professor Masood Alam, the Proctor of the university, Krishna Baloni confessed that he did not sit for the entrance test and that he had arranged for someone to appear on his behalf. He further admitted that he had arranged for the impersonator through a friend studying in a college in University of Delhi.
The University has lodged an FIR against him and the Proctor of the university has handed him over to the police.
The Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Professor Khalid Moin said that in future the cross-verification process shall be made even more foolproof so that such cases of impersonation can be brought to book.
The university is committed this year too to check any cases of impersonation in the admission process which is currently underway.
