Bangalore: The students of IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Lucknow continued their battle for supremacy on the sports field at Sangharsh 2010 - the inter-IIM sports meet held at IIM Bangalore from 23rd January to 26th January 2010. Apart from flexing their sporting skills on the field, the students chose to look at the meet as an opportunity to test and demonstrate their learning from the classroom into a real-life scenario. While courses like Managing Organizations, People and Performance Analysis in Organizations and Leadership Development have been a staple core course at all the IIMs, the sports meet provided the 150 students with a unique opportunity to apply these skills across a multitude of events ranging from pool to cricket. The results were there for all to see. As of Monday morning, IIM Bangalore led the points table by a huge margin at 70 points, followed by IIM Ahmedabad at 42 points with IIM Lucknow trailing the pack at 4 points. The highest crowd turnout was witnessed in the closed off BEFG square at IIM Bangalore, as students turned out to watch the exhibition match of gulli-cricket between the girls teams of IIMA and IIMB. Both teams were backed by their cheering squads, with the hosts bringing out the usual bucket and sticks to add rhythm to the event. IIMB went on to win the match adding to their kitty their victories in Badminton, Swimming and Table Tennis. IIM Ahmedabad on the other hand, had resounding victories in Lawn Tennis, Football and Basketball events. However, not everyone was too concerned about the score line. Maithri B, a student from IIMB's sports contingent said, 'Although we are playing to win, we are mostly focused on the learning aspect. The group dynamics of a basketball team, for instance, are mostly built on what we learnt in our courses. It's been a great experience, so far'. Clearly, at the IIMs, it really doesn't matter whether you win or lose, but how you play the game.
