New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (IGNOU’s) School of Computer and Information Sciences (SOCIS) announces admission to Masters and Bachelors in Computer Applications. The last date to apply for these programmes is 30th July 2012 (with late fee of Rs.200 up to August 14).

The MCA and BCA programmes are the most sought after programmes of the University which prepares students for productive career in software industry/ academia by providing an outstanding environment for teaching and research in the core and emerging areas of the disciplines.

The programme’s thrust for MCA is on giving the students a thorough and sound background in theoretical and application oriented courses relevant to the latest computer software development. The programme emphasises the application of software technology to solve mathematical, computing, communications/ networking and commercial problems.

The Masters degree is a three year programme with six semesters. The first year courses are aimed at skills development in computers using various technologies, the second year is more focused on core courses providing a conceptual framework and the third year provides the specialization and the project work. After the successful completion of first year courses, the student will receive the Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications certificate.

The BCA programme of the University helps open channel of admission for computing courses for students who have completed their 10+2 and are interested in taking computing and IT as a career. After completing the BCA programme, a student is able to get entry into the field of Information Technology.

The application forms in student handbook and prospectus is available in all the regional centrs and university’s headquarters for Rs.100. These are to be submitted to the nearest regional centr eof the university along with the prescribed fee in the form of a demand draft in favour of IGNOU.
