Aligarh Muslim University to organize third eye camp for under 15 years children

Aligarh: The Department of Community Medicine, J. N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University is going to organize third eye camp for under 15 years children on 21st June, 2012 at AMU-UNICEF Health Clinic, Mahfooz Nagar under the series of Free Eye Check-Up Camps. The camp is supported by Mr. Faizan Siddiqui, Founder, Kids with Vision, New York, USA. This organization helps children avoid blindness by conditions like congenital cataract, corneal ulcer, refractive error and squint etc. In these camps, services will be provided free of cost. A team of doctors, medico-social workers and refractionists from Department of Community Medicine and Institute of Ophthalmology, J.N. Medical College will do the eye check up. Children who are diagnosed with eye problems will be referred to J.N. Medical College and other higher centres for treatment including eye surgery. Dr. M. Athar Ansari, Chairman of the Department and Coordinator of Sentinel Surveillance Unit (SSU) under National Programme for Control of Blindness, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has said that the Health clinic staff and a large number of local influential people have been involved to give wide publicity to the event so that large number of children get benefited from this initiative. Prof. R. R. Sukul, Director, Institute of Ophthalmology will provide all possible support for the activity which ultimately helps restore the vision in children so that they can enjoy more stimulating environment around them.
