Aligarh : Dr. F.N. Siddiqui, Associate Professor, Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University has claimed that the earthquake which hit the northern part of Mauritius on Thursday, 26th July, 2012 was predicted by him in January, 2005 while he was working in Mauritius.
Dr. Siddiqui said that several news papers of Mauritius carried his detailed interview on "Tsunami". He predicted that Mauritian volcanoes might be reactive one day or the other because they were dormant type of volcanoes, and not the extinct type.
On the basis of Geological evidences, Dr. Siddiqui had noticed the volcanic phenomena in Mauritius Island and in its vicinity.
