Puri: Thousands of devotees now can listen to the devotional songs and spiritual programmes based on the Jagannath culture soon on radio as the Puri Jagannath temple administration has approved a proposal to set up its own FM radio station.

Katra: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra celebrated 66th Independence Day on 15th Aug. 2012. On this occasion, the National flag was unfurled by Prof. R.N.K. Bamezai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University, at 10am in front of the Administrative Block. In his brief address after the unfurling, Prof. Bamezai wished all the members of SMVDU family. He said that we need to work together with all our potential to realize the dreams of our freedom fighters. He exhorted that the future of our nation lies in the hands particularly of academic institutions like ours and therefore it is our responsibility to nurture the young generation in such an environment that inevitably results into a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous society. After the unfurling ceremony, everyone proceeded to the Matrika Auditorium to enjoy the cultural programme prepared and organized by the students of the University. There were musical, dance and theatre performances depicting basically the oneness of our national spirit. A dance performance was given by the kids of HTCS, Dansal and DPS, SMVDU. There were patriotic songs sung by the students. A very impressive mime, depicting the present scenario and future hope, was also performed by the newly admitted students of B.Tech programme.These students were guided by their seniors. A small drama depicting communal harmony in the nation was also staged. The cultural performances involved graceful solo and group dances. The event concluded with a vote of thanks followed by refreshments.
