Delhi: The National Student Challenge (NSC), India’s foremost challenge around the Transformation of urban settlements, announced the names of the final 25 teams from a pool of over 1,100 participants from across the country.
Bangkok: Are solidarity and competitiveness mutually exclusive concepts in the context of global citizenship education? Do the benefits of cooperation and mutual support outweigh the drive for self-improvement and peak performance associated with a competitive environment?
The debate "Instilling solidarity and competitiveness in a global context: compatible concepts in GCE?" at the UNESCO Forum on Global Citizenship Education in Bangkok on Monday sought to answer those questions and, if possible, marry the two concepts.

New Delhi: The Outreach Programme, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize a talk on "'Cultural Translation' in the Globalization of Disciplines" by Prof. Claire Joubert, University of Paris-8, France.
Claire Joubert is Professor of English Literature and Literary Theory, at Université Paris 8, where she is currently Head of the Masters programme "Literature/s: Texts, Languages, Theories", and Head of the Research programme "Le Texte étranger" ["the foreign text"].
Her work, based on modernist and contemporary Anglophone literatures and comparative history of literary histories, centers around the project of a "poetics of foreignness". It explores the critical object which foreign literature (i.e. the creativity of language compounded with the diversity of languages) constitutes amidst human and social sciences, especially in a context of postcoloniality and the globalization of knowledge/power relations.
The talk is scheduled to be held on February 22, 2011 at 3.30 PM in Mir Anis Room of Dayar-i Mir Taqi Mir, Administrative Block, Jamia Millia Islamia.
