Shimla: To commemorate the completion of 40 years existence of Himachal Pradesh High Court the valedictory function of year long celebrations will be held on 26th March, 2011 at H.P. University Auditorium.

Smt. Urmila Singh, Governor would be the Chief Guest on the occasion while Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister would preside over the function.

An innovative beginning was made by Justice Kurian Joseph, Chief Justice when he took decision to celebrate year long Ruby Jubilee celebrations last year which was concluding tomorrow. Significant steps were taken during Ruby Jubilee year mainly the constitution of Special Green Bench to protect and conserve the environment and take up environmental issues on priority.

Special Single Bench and a Division Bench was also constituted to hear graft cases with a motive to eradicate corruption and decide corruption cases in time bound manner. The initiatives taken by the High Court proved to be a milestone in the history of judiciary in the State thereby reposing faith of the people in justice delivery system.
