The Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) Program at NUEPA 2010.

Applications are invited from eligible scholars/candidates desirous of undertaking post doctoral research in the specialized areas of educational policy, planning and management at the National University of Educational Planning and Administration. Candidates, preferably below the age of 35 years will be considered for these fellowships.

The amount of Fellowship for pursuing Post Doctoral research will be Rs.18000/- per month. Interested candidates may visit University website for further details regarding eligibility, application modality, and other terms & conditions. Details are also available on the Notice Board of the University. Last date of submission of application form is 20 April, 2010.


 

The Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) Programme has been instituted at NUEPA to support high quality research in educational policy, planning and management. The scheme of Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) is designed is to support research by scholars with a doctoral degree and an outstanding academic record. Up to two Fellowships are available in 2010. The Fellowships are granted for an initial period of one year, which can be extended by a maximum of one more year. There shall be reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped candidates as per provision of the constitution and instructions issued by the Govt. of India from time to time.

Eligibility for NUEPA Post Doctoral Fellowship 2010:

These Fellowships are meant for full time post-doctoral research work at NUEPA. They are open for candidates, preferably below the age of 35 years, who have obtained their Ph.D. degree in Social Sciences and allied disciplines from a recognized university. Candidate possessing doctoral degree in other areas may also be considered if he/she has proven record of work/publication in the area of educational policy, planning and administration.

Application for NUEPA Post Doctoral Fellowship 2010

Applicant should have at least first-class master's degree with 55 per cent at graduate level. Completed application should include:

Curriculum vitae, including the list of publications, if any
Synopsis of the applicant's Ph.D. thesis, (if NEED be, the applicant should be prepared to send a copy of the thesis)
Proposed plan of Post-doctoral work at NUEPA (not exceeding 5 pages)
One 'Writing Sample' which could be an article or a scholarly paper published/presented in academic journals/conferences or extracts from the applicant's past academic work
Two recommendations, of which one should be from the applicant's dissertation supervisor, and
Photocopy of the Ph.D. degree certificate or a certificate from the applicant's university registrar/head of the department stating that the applicant has been provisionally awarded the Ph.D. degree.
In case of those who are already employed, applications should be routed through proper channel. An advance copy of the application may be sent to NUEPA for consideration.

Selection for NUEPA PDF 2010

The PDF Committee will select the candidates based on an evaluation of their application and an interview conducted at NUEPA.

NUEPA Post Doctoral Fellowship 2010

Post Doctoral Fellows will receive a consolidated amount of Rs.18,000/- (Rupees Eighteen Thousand Only) per month and a contingency of Rs.30,000/- p.a. The Fellowship is payable up to a maximum of twenty-four months. In case of employed persons who come on leave and whose salary exceeds the Fellowship amount, NUEPA may consider protecting their salary up to the scale of Lecturer/Assistant Professor subject to the discretion of the Vice- Chancellor/PDF Committee.

HRA: Post Doctoral Fellowship will be required to make own arrangements of accommodation and will be entitled to draw HRA as per categorization of the cities by the Government of India. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will submit a certificate for this purpose to NUEPA for claiming HRA.

Medical: No separate/fixed medical assistance is provided. However, the Post Doctoral Fellow may avail of the medical facilities as are available in the University for other trainees.

Leave: Leave for maximum period of 30 days in a year in addition to public holidays may be taken by the Post- Doctoral Fellow with the approval of the Head of Department. However, they are not entitled to any other vacations, such as summer, winter and pooja vacations. Women candidates are eligible for maternity leave at full rates of the Fellowship for 135 days as per Government of India rules once during the tenure of their award. The Fellow in special cases may be allowed by the University leave without Fellowship and contingency for a period not exceeding three months during the tenure of award on the recommendation of the concerned Head of Department. The period of leave without Fellowship will be counted towards the tenure.

Responsibilities

The Post-Doctoral Fellows may be attached to a Department of the University to pursue their research plan, and are expected to produce at least two working papers per year, and give at least two seminars at NUEPA each year based on the work done by them at NUEPA.

In addition, the grantees are expected to participate in teaching and research activities of NUEPA. They would be provided office space and have full access to library, computing and other facilities of the Institute. Please note that Post Doctoral Fellows are full-time fixed term positions that are in no way related to the entry-level faculty positions at NUEPA.

Application Deadline & Notifications: Applications can be sent by Speed/Registered post to reach NUEPA by 20th April 2010. Letters of recommendation should be sent by the concerned persons directly to NUEPA by post indicating application for post-doctoral fellowship program 2010. Candidates for interview will be notified by email/post by 21st May 2010. Interviews are scheduled to be held during June 2010. Award of Fellowships will be notified by email/post by 18th June 2010. Awardees are expected to join the Institute by 1st August 2010.
