New Delhi: The Ministry of Minority Affairs has sanctioned Pre-Matric Scholarship to 9,65,061 students belonging to Minority communities till 15th October 2010. The target for the current Financial Year under this Scheme has been set at 20 lakh scholarships with a provision of Rs. 450 crore. Out of this amount Rs. 108.35 crore has been actually utilized till date.

The Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme is covered under the Prime Minister's New 15 Point Programme for the Welfare of Minorities. During last Financial Year the achievement under this Scheme was 17.29 lakh scholarships, which was 2.29 lakh more than the target set for the year and the amount utilized was Rs. 202.94 crore, which was Rs. 2.94 crore more than the target set.
